We will also show you the different types of affiliate programs and how to choose the best ones for your niche. Finally, we will give you some tips and best practices for succeeding as an affiliate marketer.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing is a form of performance-based marketing where you earn a commission by promoting other people’s products or services. You sign up for an affiliate program that matches your niche and audience and get a unique link (called an affiliate link) that tracks your referrals. You get paid a percentage of the sale whenever someone clicks on your link and purchases within a certain period (called a cookie duration). For example, let’s say you have a blog about fitness and wellness. You join an affiliate program for a fitness app that pays a 30% commission per sale. You write a review of the app on your blog and include your affiliate link in the post. A reader clicks on your link and downloads the app for $10. You earn $3 as an affiliate commission.

How Does Affiliate Marketing Work? Affiliate marketing works in four simple steps:

1.         Find an affiliate program that matches your niche and audience.

2.        Apply for the program and get approved.

3.       Get your unique affiliate link and place it on your website, social media, email list, or any other platform where you have an audience.

4.       Earn commissions whenever someone clicks on your link and makes a purchase.

Why Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing has many benefits for both beginners and experienced online marketers. Here are some of the reasons why affiliate marketing is a great way to make money online:

•           It’s easy to start: You don’t need special skills or qualifications to become an affiliate marketer. All you need is an online platform to share your opinions and recommendations with others.

•           It’s low-cost: You don’t need any upfront investment or inventory to start affiliate marketing. You can use free or low-cost tools and resources like WordPress, Canva, Mailchimp, etc., to create content and promote products.

•           It’s flexible: You can choose from thousands of products and services across various niches and industries to promote as an affiliate marketer. You can also work from anywhere at any time that suits you.

•           It’s scalable: You can grow your income as an affiliate marketer by increasing your traffic, conversions, or commissions. You can also diversify your income streams by joining multiple affiliate programs or creating multiple websites.

•           It’s rewarding: You can earn passive income by promoting products you genuinely like and trust. You can also help others solve their problems or achieve their goals by providing valuable information and guidance.

Types of Affiliate Programs

There are many types of affiliate programs available for different niches.

Pay-per-click (PPC) affiliate programs pay affiliates for each click they generate on their unique affiliate links. Google AdSense is a well-known PPC affiliate program for which bloggers can sign up.

1.         Pay-per-sale (PPS) affiliate programs: As the name suggests, these programs pay affiliates a commission for each sale made through their unique affiliate links. Amazon Associates is a popular PPS affiliate program that offers a wide range of products that bloggers can promote on their websites.

2.         Pay-per-lead (PPL) affiliate programs pay affiliates for each lead they generate through unique affiliate links. Some of the top PPL affiliate programs include MaxBounty and GlobalWide Media.

3.         Two-tier affiliate programs: These programs allow affiliates to earn commissions not only for their sales or leads but also for the sales or leads generated by affiliates they refer to the program. ShareASale is a two-tier affiliate program that offers a wide range of products and services to promote.

4.         Multi-level marketing (MLM) programs allow affiliates to earn commissions for their sales or leads and the sales or leads generated by the affiliates they recruit. However, MLM programs have been controversial; some consider their pyramid schemes. It's essential to thoroughly research any MLM program before signing up.

These networks provide access to a wide range of affiliate programs, making finding products to promote and earn commissions easy. Some of the top affiliate networks for beginners include:

1.         Amazon Associates: This program is excellent for beginners because it's easy to sign up for and offers a wide range of products to promote. As an affiliate, you'll earn commissions on any products your readers purchase through your unique affiliate link.

2.         ShareASale: This affiliate network has a user-friendly interface and offers a wide range of products across multiple niches. They also provide helpful tools and resources to help affiliates succeed.

3.         CJ Affiliate (formerly Commission Junction): This network has been around for over 20 years and is one of the largest affiliate networks. They offer a wide range of products and provide helpful resources for beginners, including tutorials and a support team.

4.         Rakuten Marketing: This network has over 1,000 brands to choose from and offers helpful tools for affiliates, such as a product discovery tool that helps you find products to promote.

It's important to note that your best affiliate network will depend on your niche and the products you want to promote. It's a good idea to research different networks and programs to find the ones that align with your audience and content. Many individual companies also offer affiliate programs that may be a good fit for beginners.

Partner Affiliate Income

It all begins with an idea.

What is a Micro Influencer?

The official definition is anyone with 1,000 to 100,000. followers. So if you are even somewhat active on any social media platform chances are you probably qualify as a “Micro” influencer. So even if you don’t spend all of your time on your phone and live your life through your posts the posts that you do make people probably pay attention to. More and more companies are finding that influencers with smaller audiences are more closely connected to their audience and are much more likely to follow your recommendations on pretty much anything.

Everyone has a passion for something and it is really easy to turn that passion into an income stream by sharing your knowledge on social media. Once you have built up an audience it is very simple to monetize it. In fact you probably already have a general audience you can monetize. In order to turn your casual social media posts into income all you have to do is follow a few easy steps.

1). Pick your platform and stick with it

In order to become an influencer you need to pick a platform for your voice. It is important that the platform you choose be able to accommodate the information you want to share. The most popular platform right now is no doubt Instagram. However if you don’t already know this Instagram has some pretty strict rules about publishing links to outside destinations. There are ways around this of course. You can publish one link in your bio and you can setup a swipe up action to reveal a link that relates to your post. However Instagram is primarily a visual social media site. So if you want to really share information on something you are passionate about you may want to choose a format that isn’t so restricted. By far the most flexible format is a blog site. The drawbacks to creating your own blog site are that you will have to learn how to drive traffic to the site. Otherwise you won’t be able to build your audience and spread your message. However with some really easy basic tools you can spread the news about your blog easily. Blogs allow complete flexibility. You can post images, videos, purchase links, product placements, etc. The world is your oyster so to speak.

2) Pick a topic and stick to it?

It doesn’t really matter what your blog is about, just pick one general topic and try to stick to that general subject. The biggest mistake new bloggers make is they skip around topics so when people subscribe and think they are going to get information on say sneakers and one week they get a blogpost ranting about bad service at the Olive Garden that blogger will most likely loose his subscriber base. Unless he can somehow tie his experience back into the core meaning of the blog.

3) What could I possibly know enough about to write a blog?

Everyone and I mean everyone is passionate about at least one thing in their life. Blogs can be about anything from knitting, collecting sneakers, cooking, restaurants, programming, robotics, gardening, price shopping, car repair, even purchase research. For example whenever I buy ANYTHING I do a lot of research and attempt to find other bloggers who are not simply doing a cut and paste review and listing an Affiliate link where they get a percentage of the sale. It has become more and more difficult to find real reviews about products because people have started blogs where they simply take the top selling products and list them as the best products simply bc they pay an Affiliate commission. The internet has way too many of these bullshit bloggers… try not to be one. Yes these sites may make a few bucks but they don’t help consumers, they don’t do anything but help sell products. I’ll get to monitoring your blog soon but lets put that off for later. To start your blog just start writing what you are passionate about and the knowledge you have that others may not. People will always search and follow your blog if you offer even a summary of truthful knowledge about products, projects, sports, crafts… anything.

4) Sign up for an Affiliate Program

So in summary pick something that you are constantly thinking about and constantly researching. It can be part of what you do for work or for a hobby. Just find something you enjoy researching and you already do in your everyday life. Now all you have to do is blog a summary about what you know and people will follow you. Once you hit a thousand followers you can start looking for products that you would normally recommend and sign up for their Affiliate program.

5) Find the offer for the product you want to list in your blog

Once you have signed up for an Affiliate program you will log on to the Partner/Affilaite site and go to a tab that says something like “Offers” page through the offers tab and see what the offers are. Find the offer that is associated with the product you want to include in your blog. Next you will find photos of the product you are blogging about, insert them into your blog. Finally you will take the link that is listed in the Affiliate program and insert it into your blog. Publish it and anytime anyone clicks on that link and makes a purchase you will get a commission. Its that simple.

Congratulations! You are now an Influencer!

Leveraging Influence

It all begins with an idea.

Just like the 80's Faberge ad, "I told two friends, and they told two friends and so on, and so on, and so on..." the key to spreading your brand message is to get others to tell your brand story.

Influencer marketing is one of the best ways to grow your brand following and awareness organically.

It is essential to understand the success of all Influencer marketing entirely depends on identifying the right Influencers to spread your brand message.

When looking for Influencers to spread your brand message, you will need to find Influencers who create content that looks like your brand message. Select Influencers with the same care and criteria you would use when hiring a photographer, model, or stylist. It is critical to find Influencers who are creating content that already looks like your brand message or aligns with your brand message.

Influencers who have a unique, authentic voice create content that followers begin to trust then act on. So the more loyal followers become, the higher the click-through rate becomes.

When Influencers establish trust with their audience, their audience begins to purchase based on their recommendations. These are the Influencers brands should seek out and are the most effective creating brand loyalty and influencing consumer purchases.

New to all of this and lost? Atfluence works with both Influencers and brands. We have a network of trusted partners and can leverage Influencers to take your brand to the next level.
